Crafting a cola alternative

A NEW Scottish cola championing local ingredients has been launched as an alternative to the classics.

Alba Cola, which features heather extract and is bottled using Scottish spring water from the Cairngorms National Park, is said to offer consumers “a quality, affordable soft drink with a clear Scottish identity”.

Glasgow-born entrepreneur Chris Ewing, who created the craft soft drink, told SLTN he has high hopes for Alba Cola, which is available in full sugar and sugar-free 330ml formats.

“I just felt there seemed to be a lot of artisanal products emerging – whether it’s gin, craft beer, soft drinks – and I felt there was a niche for cola,” said Ewing.

“We simply aim to provide a quality, Scottish alternative to an already well-established [customer] base.”
