TWO Scottish bartenders will travel to London this week to compete in the UK final of Courvoisier’s cocktail competition, Toast of Paris.
Nathaniel Hampton of Draffens in Dundee and Michael McLellan of Bryant & Mack in Edinburgh were named joint winners of the competition’s Scottish heat late last month.
They will compete against other regional winners from across the UK at Artesian Bar in the Langham Hotel, London, this Wednesday (April 11).
The competition has this year challenged bartenders to create a modern twist on a classic cocktail, using Courvoisier as the base ingredient, or their own take on a ‘Café Courvoisier’ serve.
The overall UK winner will proceed to the global final of the competition, which will be held in the brand’s birthplace of Paris, before all finalists travel to Jarnac to spend a night at the brand’s home, Chateau Couvoisier. The global champion will receive a bespoke blend of Courvoisier created by master blender Patrice Pinet and presented in an engraved crystal decanter. They will also receive $4000 towards their future career development.
