THE tale of a Scottish princess provided the inspiration for the latest release from Edinburgh-based Fusion Whisky.
Elizabeth Stuart, the eldest daughter of King James VI and I, is the latest figure from history to be honoured by the firm, which has produced two other character-inspired whisky blends.
The royal became queen consort of Bohemia in 1619 but was forced into exile after only one year, earning her the moniker The Winter Queen, living the rest of her life in the Netherlands.
The Winter Queen bottling combines Scotch from the Longmorn and Glenrothes distilleries with malt whisky from Dutch distiller Zuidam.
All three blends were created in partnership with the Adelphi Distillery in Fife, with each recipe created by Adelphi’s managing director and master blender, Alex Bruce.
