Who will the stars align for?

The hotel is located in New Galloway

A 280 year old coaching inn in Dumfries & Galloway that is said to be a popular haunt of stargazers is for sale.

Due to its location close to the New Galloway Forest Park – the UK’s first Dark Sky Park which is said to boast some of the darkest skies in Europe – the Cross Keys Hotel’s setting is said to be an excellent spot for stargazing.

Dating from 1737, the inn has been expanded down the years to incorporate adjacent properties. It now comprises ten bedrooms, a restaurant and snug bar; there’s also owner’s accommodation.

Colliers International’s Alistair Letham described it as “the perfect business for anyone seeking Scottish country charm”, adding that there is scope to further grow the business.

“The property is in excellent condition and offers further scope for development – subject to consent – with a large rear courtyard and garden area,” he said.

The Cross Keys Hotel is on the market with an asking price of £375,000.
