THE firm behind the Blackwoods spirits brand has introduced a new 2017 vintage across its range, featuring new formulations for the gins and vodka that have been developed in partnership with bartenders.

The new Blackwoods Vintage Dry Gins, at both 40% and 60% ABV, along with Blackwoods Premium Grain Vodka have been given new-look bottles and packaging designed to evoke the 1920s era of cocktails.

It is up to date in terms of consumer appeal, while evoking the classic age of cocktails.

The reformulated range – the first new vintage from Blackwoods in five years – has been created using botanicals from Shetland, with updated recipes created in response to feedback from bartenders.

The updated range, distributed in the UK on-trade by Hi-Spirits, is available from this month.

The new bottle design is inspired by vintage soda syphons, while the copper cap is said to reflect the gin’s small-batch, copper still production.

Managing director of Hi-Spirits, Dan Bolton, said: “The new Blackwoods design celebrates the 2017 vintage and aligns with the new formulation.

“The involvement of bartenders in finalising the recipes ensures that it is up to date in terms of consumer appeal, while evoking the classic age of cocktails in the roaring 1920s.”
