Hotel on course for a new owner

Who will put in an offer on Carnoustie business?

A HOTEL in the Angus town of Carnoustie – famed for its championship golf course – has come on to the books of property firm Christie & Co.

Located on Ireland Street in the centre of Carnoustie, the Aboukir Hotel comprises seven en suite rooms, which overlook the North Sea coastline.

The property also has a restaurant, lounge bar, and a beer garden – all of which are said to provide income streams for the business.

Located within walking distance of the renowned Carnoustie golf course, the Aboukir Hotel is said to present an opportunity for potential buyers to snap up the property ahead of the upcoming British Open Championship at Carnoustie Links in July 2018.

This is a rare opportunity for a new operator to take on an established business.

Stuart Drysdale, associate director at Christie & Co’s Glasgow office, said the sale represents “a rare opportunity for a new operator to take on a well-established business being sold as a going concern with a full complement of staff, requiring very little capital expenditure”.

“The local area boasts many of the top golf courses in the UK with Carnoustie, one of the toughest links courses in Scotland, hosting the British Open Championship in the summer of 2018,” said Drysdale.

“This obviously brings a huge influx of tourists and golf enthusiasts to the town, and will give the new owners a real boost to start off their tenure.”

An asking price of £585,000 has been set for the freehold of the hotel.
