New venue gallops into capital

THE firm behind the Chop House Bar & Butchery chain is set to launch its latest venture in Edinburgh’s Old Town.

The new eatery will focus on seafood and shellfish.

White Horse Oyster & Seafood Bar, which is due to open in November on the site of what’s claimed to be the oldest inn on the Royal Mile, will focus on offering customers fresh seafood and shellfish.

Placing seafood at the heart of its offer, the complete refurbishment of the Royal Mile venue will see the creation of a dining room, with additional covers housed in booth seating looking onto a custom-built lobster tank within the venue.

Elsewhere, the interior will feature “a rich heritage colourway” with various design features, including a custom-made marble top designed for customers looking for oysters and cocktails.

Mark Fraser, managing director of The Compass Group – the firm behind the venture – said: “We wanted to go back to basics and create a classic and relaxed offering where the ingredients take centre stage – so sourcing the highest quality seafood is crucial for us at White Horse.”

White Horse Oyster & Seafood Bar will open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, with the bar trading until late.
