THE round £1 coin loses its legal tender status this Sunday (October 15).
From October 16 onwards, businesses will be under no obligation to accept the round £1 coin – and should ensure the old £1 is not redistributed to customers, according to the Royal Mint.
The new 12-sided coin, which entered circulation earlier this year (March 28), replaces the round £1 coin.
