WINE importer Continental Wine & Food (CWF) has introduced three new season wines which it says are ideally suited to “kick off” the pre-Christmas period.

The three Novello wines (the Italian term for new) have been made using the carbonic maceration technique, which is said to emphasise “the aromatic and floral qualities of the grapes used” and makes young wines “ideal for immediate consumption”.

CWF has introduced Ikebana Novello from Cantine Zaccagnini, which comprises 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes and has an ABV of 12%; Novello produced by Casa Vinicola E. Antonutti Vini, also 12% ABV, which is described as “opening on the nose with mixed berries, strawberry, raspberry and cherry”; and Novello produced by Velenosi, which is said to be a 12% ABV “fresh, fruity and smooth” variant.

Nick Tatham, wine development manager at CWF, said that Novello wines “are awaited each year with great excitement”.

“Novello wines are a great way to ‘kick-off’ the pre-Christmas period with special dinners and menus to accompany them and we are delighted to be able to offer our customers three excellent wines.”
