Everything’s in order for capital bartender

EDINBURGH bartender Lachlan Rooney will have the chance to create an expression of the Auchentoshan single malt after winning a national competition for the brand.

Bartender Lachlan Rooney was named joint winner of Auchentoshan’s New Malt Order competition.

Lachlan, of The Voodoo Rooms, was named joint winner in the UK final of Auchentoshan’s New Malt Order competition, along with Charles Roche of London bar, Scout. They will now join ten winners from other countries to create the 2018 iteration of The Bartender’s Malt, an expression of Auchentoshan that is designed to appeal specifically to bartenders.

Marco Di Ciacca, senior brand manager for Auchentoshan, said: “As the original city malt, Auchentoshan is dedicated to recruiting and nurturing fresh, creative talent from behind the bar who can demonstrate they challenge the norms to become part of this global collective. We definitely have that in Lachlan and Charles.

“We really felt they exemplified the spirit of Auchentoshan by using their creativity and passion to challenge the normal conventions of malt whisky.”

The next iteration of The Bartender’s Malt is scheduled for release in July 2018.
