OPERATORS have one month left in which to appeal their 2017 rateable value (RV).
The new RVs, which came into effect on April 1, have seen some licensed trade businesses hit with increases of several hundred per cent; a temporary 12-month 14.75% cap on increases is available to apply for via local authorities.
However, those seeking to challenge their business’s new rateable value have until September 30 to lodge the appeal.
Tennent’s, which secured a preferential appeal fee rate from Shepherd Chartered Surveyors for its customers earlier this year, urged licensees to ensure they don’t miss the deadline. Sales director Alan Hay said: “The window of opportunity is fast closing, so we urge customers who wish to appeal their new rateable value, regardless of their outlet type, to email us at ratesappealsupport@tennents.com as soon as they can.”
