STEWART Brewing has once again collaborated with students from Heriot-Watt University to launch a new beer.
Common Ancestor, a 5.2% ABV California Common, was created by four masters students at the university’s International Centre for Brewing and Distilling.
The style, which originates from California in the 19th century, is said to work well in cask and keg format.
Launched last Thursday (June 29), Common Ancestor was created as part of Natural Selection Brewing – a collaborative project between the brewery and the university, which is now in its seventh year.
Jo Stewart, co-founder of Stewart Brewing, said: “Natural Selection Brewing is a chance for selected MSc brewing and distilling students to employ their creativity and knowledge in brewing their own unique beer and selling it across the UK.”
