Chance to move to the mountain

New owner sought for profitable Aviemore business

OPERATORS looking to acquire an outlet in a tourist ‘hot-spot’ might be interested in an Aviemore restaurant, which is for sale after 40 years under the same family ownership.

Occupying a prominent position at the southern entrance to the Cairngorms National Park town with “stunning” views of CairnGorm mountain, La Taverna has been extended over the years to include a conservatory at the front of the property and, most recently, an extension to the kitchen.

The 150-cover venue is described as a “high volume” Italian restaurant which can cater for up to 600 covers a day across the buffet service and a la carte menu. La Taverna also offers a takeaway service, which is said to account for 10% of its current turnover.

As it stands, the business trades seven days a week from 12noon until late, closing for five weeks a year; therefore it is said to present immediate scope to increase trading by opening all year round.

La Taverna is one of the best-performing businesses to have crossed my desk.

However, Graham & Sibbald said the business is currently very profitable, with turnover up 51% in the past four years to £1.57 million.

The property agent’s Peter Seymour said La Taverna is “one of the best-performing businesses which has crossed my desk in the past 11 years”.

“The business is family-focused and enjoys accommodating large groups for celebrations and parties and has a separate function dining area to accommodate these larger bookings,” he said.
La Taverna is on the market at offers over £1.75 million for the freehold.
