Edinburgh Gin took distilling to the masses at the Edinburgh International Science Festival earlier this month at its Distilling Live event.
The distiller staged a live gin distillation using recipes ‘crowdsourced’ from three social media platforms.
During the event, head distiller David Wilkinson gave an overview of the science of distillation and hosted a tasting of the Edinburgh Gin range before giving the audience the chance to sample the gins produced from the social media recipes.
Neil Boyd of Ian Macleod Distillers, which owns Edinburgh Gin, said the firm was “delighted” to participate in the festival.
“It makes perfect sense to showcase the science behind gin distilling and what better way to engage with our audience than asking them to suggest the botanicals used in live distilling,” said Boyd.
