Distilling social media gin recipes

THE firm behind Edinburgh Gin is set to create three new gins based on recipes from social media users.

• Gin fans can vote online.

Said to be in celebration of Edinburgh International Science Festival (April 1 to 16), which this year focuses on the ‘Information Age’, gin-lovers can vote for their favourite botanicals; voting began on Facebook, moved to Twitter and has since moved to Instagram for the final seven days.

Distillation of each new gin, based on the crowd-sourced votes, will be live-streamed next Saturday (April 8).
Neil Boyd, commercial director at Ian Macleod Distillers, which owns Edinburgh Gin, said: ”What better way to engage with our audience than asking them to suggest the botanicals used in a live distilling.”
