What’s claimed to be Scotland’s only social enterprise bars group has launched a new chef training programme for disadvantaged young people.
Beer for Good’s course will run for three years, after which students will have earned an SVQ Level 5 in professional cookery.
Head chef Matthias Sandler, of Edinburgh-based Beer for Good, whose venues include Harry’s and Southside Social, developed the chef training programme with Beer For Good owner Chris Thewlis.
“We’re going to recruit young people who maybe haven’t done well at school, or who have struggled to find work, and give them the support and training for them to become fully trained chefs, and help turn their lives around,” said Sandler.
