Loyalty pays off

THE Glasgow-based firm behind loyalty app Swiipi secured a £500,000 grant from Scottish Enterprise last month.
The company was awarded the funding through the Scottish Enterprise Regional Selective Assistance grant, and said it will use the investment to expand its business. Swiipi, which currently employs ten people, has plans to recruit a further 45 members of staff over the next twelve months as well as leasing additional space at its St Vincent Street address.
Business owners already using the app met cabinet secretary for finance, Derek Mackay, at the company’s headquarters last month.
Launched in 2014, Swiipi allows business operators to offer and tailor rewards to their customers via the Swiipi app. Customers can sign up via an iPad at participating businesses and then use their card, key fob or the mobile app to collect points each time they visit the venue. The app is also integrated with social media, allowing it to gather additional information which operators can use to tailor future deals and promotions.
Chitresh Sharma, chief executive and co-founder of Swiipi, said: “We have been helped hugely, from getting our first office through to hiring the right people and support with funding.”
