A wee nip in the ale

• The 5.8% ABV whisky-flavoured ale.

THE McEwan’s range of Scottish ale has been extended with a wee nip of whisky added to the brewer’s Champion beer.
Available in 500ml bottles, McEwan’s Champion Whisky Edition is bottled at 5.8% ABV, down from the 7.3% ABV of McEwan’s Champion.
The blend of ale and whisky is said to be produced using the same recipe as McEwan’s Champion with the addition of Royal & Ancient Fine Whisky.
Tara Karimian, marketing manager at McEwan’s, said the decision to create the new flavoured beer was a “no-brainer”.
“We wanted to see how one of Scotland’s best-selling beers could offer something a little different and capture the imagination of drinkers,” said Karimian.
“With hints of butterscotch and ripe sweet fruit, McEwan’s Champion Whisky Edition perfectly reflects the quality of the ingredients and the experience which have gone into making it.”
