Venue’s charity drive for Edinburgh animal shelter continues
DOGS and cats had their day again at the Mercat Grill in East Lothian after the bar and restaurant’s Santa Paws initiative successfully raised £300 for the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home (EDCH) over the festive period.
The latest event, a Christmas themed breakfast which saw the Mercat team serve up bacon or egg rolls with teas and coffees for dog owners as well as presents for their four-legged friends, brings the venue’s fundraising total for the EDCH to £1737.36.
Mercat Grill owner Graham Blaikie and his team now plan to push their fundraising efforts further by hosting a ‘Doggy Coffee Morning’ on Sunday February 26 from 10am until midday in aid of EDCH.
Blaikie said dog owners and “their tail-wagging friends” had a brilliant time at the Santa Paws event.
“We love dogs at our venue and fully cater for people and pooches with quality food and drinks – from gourmet treats to doggy beers,” said Blaikie.
“We’re delighted to have raised £300 between ourselves and our dog loving customers for the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. The charity does an amazing job caring for the animals and rehoming them.
“Our Doggy Coffee Morning on February 26 should be another great social event for owners and their dogs to mix and mingle with like-minded dog friendly folks over a coffee/tea and bacon/egg roll and treat for their pooch – all for £10, with all proceeds going to the EDCH charity.”
