Calling all bartenders

Free gin masterclasses being held across Scotland

BROCKMANS Gin is inviting bartenders across Scotland to take part in a gin masterclass.
The gin maker is inviting Scottish bar professionals who are looking to broaden their knowledge of Brockmans Gin, as well as looking to make their own cocktails using the spirit.

• Brockmans is a 40% ABV gin featuring a blend of 11 botanicals, berries and orange peel.

The masterclasses will take place next month in Glasgow, in the downstairs of Cup on August 2 and in Edinburgh, in The Jolly Botanist, on August 3.
Both masterclasses will be held by Brockmans’ brand ambassador, Mike Whatmough, who will educate bar staff about the 11 different botanicals in the 40% ABV gin.
Following this will be a cocktail demonstration from David Craig, the 2016 winner of Brockmans’ International World Gin Day competition.
And for those who attend the masterclass in the capital, a late night tour party will take place – at a secret, undisclosed location.
With Brockmans keeping the details of the party close to its chest, all that is known is that it will be a “night of cocktails from worldwide Brockmans’ bars” and there will reportedly be “oodles of free gin” on offer.
More information will follow closer to the time, and the party will be open to consumers via Twitter and Instagram.
Bartenders who attend the masterclasses to boost their gin knowledge will also get the chance to enter a cocktail contest – with various prizes up for grabs.
Bar staff will be tasked with creating a unique cocktail utilising a range of ingredients supplied by Brockmans.
And the best three cocktails from each masterclass will be shortlisted, from which an overall winner will be chosen.
Runners up will be awarded with a bottle of Brockmans and the first place winner will be awarded with a limited edition leather apron, featuring an embossed leather ‘B’, which has been created for Brockmans by Edward deLacy of deLacy Leather.
There is said to be a limited number of places for each event so invitations will be issued on a first come, first served basis.
The deadline for applications is 9pm on Monday July 25.
For bartenders looking to attend, applications can be made to mwhatmough@brockmansgin.com stating your name, the name and location of your bar, and your mobile number. And you must be free between 3pm and 6pm on the date of your choice.
