A new small-batch single estate gin intended to celebrate the Second World War’s young female pilots of the Air Transport Auxiliary has been launched in the UK.
Spitfire Heritage Gin has been brought to market by a team led by the founder of The Spitfire Heritage Trust.
Described as an “authentic 1930s botanical gin”, the spirit is made with a number of botanicals, including juniper, orange, almond, borage, coriander, rosemary, star anise and rose petals, and is said to be “wonderfully aromatic and refreshing”.
Ian Hewitt, who heads up Spitfire Heritage Gin with his entrepreneur wife Sarah and their business partner Denise France, said the spirit, which is produced in Cambridgeshire, is one of only three single estate gins distilled in the UK and is “as authentic as its namesake”.
