The curtain has come down on this year’s Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival – but organisers are preparing to do it all over again later this year.
Featuring more than 500 events across five days, the 2016 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival was the biggest programme in the event’s history and is said to have set new records for ticket sales.
Now, organisers have turned their attention to Spirit of Speyside – Distilled, which will take place in Elgin Town Hall from September 9 to 11. The new event will bring Speyside’s whisky producers together with local gins, craft beers and food producers under one roof.
Festival chairman James Campbell said the new event is expected to attract a broad range of visitors. “The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival has grown to become a phenomenal event, but we felt that it was time to add a second event which did not require visitors to undertake a great deal of itinerary planning,” he said.
