A family-owned castle in Dumfries & Galloway has been awarded five stars from VisitScotland’s quality assurance scheme.
Exclusive hire venue Auchen Castle in Beattock received the accolade in recognition of its “exceptional standards”.
The 26-bedroom former hotel was acquired four years ago by the Lynn family who began transforming it into a wedding destination; the dining room was restored and a new bar area featuring a hand-crafted oak bar was created.
Alister Lynn, director of the family-owned venue, said: “We are extremely proud to be awarded five star status from VisitScotland after a project that has been a true labour of love.
“VisitScotland’s world-leading quality assurance scheme is about more than just the stars above the door, it’s about the entire guest experience, with factors such as the warmth of welcome, excellent facilities and amazing service, all being key parts of the rating.”
