VisitScotland claims 2016 will be ‘ground-breaking’ for the country, with a year-long series of events scheduled across Scotland.
They commenced on January 1 with the Fire and Light show at the Helix in Falkirk in the shadow of The Kelpies.
Tourism minister Fergus Ewing said the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design “offers tourism businesses across Scotland a fantastic opportunity to showcase, celebrate and engage visitors with this wide-ranging and fascinating theme”.
The news follows a report from VisitScotland which claimed 26% of Scottish accommodation businesses enjoyed an increase in bookings over the festive season, compared to the previous year.
