BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Wine Agency Barwell & Jones specialise in importing, marketing and distributing wines from around the world, with particular focus on the Independent and On trade, Wholesale Channels. Part of a family-owned group of companies, based in Ilford, Essex, we are a dynamic, passionate team, working with a portfolio of exciting wines with character, provenance and individual style. We are looking for a committed, experienced, dynamic and highly motivated Business Development Manager to join our growing Sales team with responsibility in Scotland and Northern Ireland for driving existing as well as new business in the On Trade, Wholesale & Independents.
With a proven track record in sales and account management, the successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to gain new business. This will be a rewarding and challenging role. It is essential that you are not only able to demonstrate strong business acumen and negotiating skills, but also the ability to communicate the core values of Barwell & Jones and the wineries that we represent. A high level of wine knowledge and an insatiable passion for wine are pre-requisites. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of a highly successful team.
Using excellent communication and relationship building skills the successful candidate will be responsible for using their already demonstrable trade sales experience to increase sales across both new and existing business; for hosting formal and informal wine tastings and for maximizing sales and marketing opportunities to drive through growth as well as profit.
To be successful the right person will need to be able to demonstrate solid and successful sales. They will also need the following key pre-requisite skills:
• Good wine knowledge (minimum WSET Advanced Level or equivalent)
• Superb communicator and presenter
• Logical, organised with an eye for detail
• Demonstrable understanding of costing calculations and budgets
• Sound computer skills (especially Excel & PowerPoint)
• A good general level of education
• Self-sufficient, motivated and able to work independently yet within company procedures • Full UK driving License
This is a home based role and therefore after a suitable induction period in our London offices all applicants will need to be able to work from home.
Applicants may be required to commit to working some unsociable hours and to staying away from home overnight on occasion.
