Scottish wine merchant Inverarity Morton has appointed Eva Franceschi to the newly created role of fine wine manager.
Franceschi will head up a team which has been tasked with driving growth of premium wine sales in the on-trade.
Inverarity Morton is said to have selected Franceschi for the role on the back of her wine knowledge and sales and communications skills.
Franceschi, who began her wine career at Majestic Wine, joined Inverarity Morton in 2001 as a regional sales manager.
She will have support in her new role from Ewen Lamont, who has been appointed wine development manager. The pair will work alongside Inverarity Morton director of wine sales Guy Chatfield.
Inverarity Morton sales director, Donald Campbell, said the firm was “looking for someone who was passionate about wine, was a highly capable sales manager, had great leadership skills and gravitas and credibility in their attitude and approach”.
Campbell said Franceschi had these qualities “in abundance” and will be “a fine ambassador for our business”.
“Creating this fine wine team is all about carving our position as Scotland’s best wine-led supplier,” said Campbell.
“Eva will be principally responsible for engaging with and supporting prestige accounts so we are providing a highly tailored service that meets their exacting standards.”
Franceschi’s appointment  follows a £3 million investment by Inverarity Morton in new premises. The wholesaler relocated to a new, larger site in Thornliebank in September.
