An East Lothian hotel which is said to have an “impeccable” reputation is up for sale.

The hotel, which is close to Dunbar train station and is said to offer a good base for visitors to explore East Lothian, the Borders and Edinburgh, has 16 en suite letting rooms, a lounge bar and the 36-cover Mauretania Restaurant, which takes its name from the RMS Mauretania and is said to be decorated with wood panelling from the ship’s boardroom. There’s also a large function suite which can accommodate 60 guests for weddings or private dining.

The sale of the business also incorporates a three-bedroom apartment, which is currently let by the vendor.

Selling agent Bruce & Co, which is marketing the property with a price tag of £629,000 for the freehold, said the Royal Mackintosh Hotel has an “impeccable reputation” and accommodation which is of an “excellent standard”.

“As a result, the hotel enjoys much repeat custom – further supported by the hotel’s reputation for fine foods and wines,” said Bruce & Co.

“The sale of this delightful hotel offers a rare opportunity to purchase a high quality, beautifully-presented property which is trading well but with potential for expansion of the business.”
