Hotel set to go the extra mile

THE G&V Royal Mile Hotel in Edinburgh is to undergo a major refurbishment six years after it opened.

The revamp is said to include design changes to its 136 rooms and bar and lobby areas.

A number of Scottish designers will work on the refurbishment of the hotel’s luxury suites, including Judy R Clark, Christine Clark, Timorous Beasties and Hatti Pattisson. Furniture firm Holster and interior design firm Graven will design the remainder of the hotel’s bedrooms.

It’s claimed the revamp will offer guests a “genuinely distinctive experience” with interiors that “evoke modern Scotland”.

The work will be carried out in a phased approach with some rooms ready this summer and the full redesign completed by the end of the year.

Italian restaurant Cucina will remain at the heart of the hotel, which is part of Carlson Rezidor Group.

Carina Svensen, hotel manager at G&V Royal Mile Hotel, said: “The new design will reflect a celebration of modern Scotland, drawing on the incredible resources and talent we have on our doorstep here in Edinburgh.”
