A double win for family distiller

FAMILY-owned drinks firm Ian Macleod Distillers has been crowned a double winner at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards.

The company won the Drinks (alcoholic) category with its 25 year old Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, and also took the top award in the Brand Success of the Year category for the relaunch of Tamdhu Distillery and Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The awards were announced at Edinburgh’s National Museum of Scotland on May 27.

Among the other winners were Bruichladdich Distillery and The Agronomy Institute at the University of Highlands and Islands, which scooped an Innovation award; James Watt of craft brewer and pub group, Brewdog, who was named Scottish Food & Drink Entrepreneur; and AG Barr, which triumphed in the Non-Alcoholic Drink category.
