Games boost for attractions

VISITS to Scotland’s main tourist attractions increased last year as a result of the Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup.

Researchers at Glasgow Caledonian University claim visitor numbers rose to more than 55 million, representing a 3.3% increase on the 2013 figure.

The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh was the number one free attraction, and Edinburgh Castle the most popular paid-for attraction.
