AN Edinburgh bartender has reached the UK final of Diageo’s Reserve World Class cocktail competition.
John Hughes of Bramble Bar on Edinburgh’s Queen Street will join three bartenders from London and one from Manchester in the next stage of the contest at Drummuir Castle – Diageo’s “home of Scotch whisky on Speyside” – in June; they will compete with an additional five finalists, who will be revealed in April.
Jon secured his place with his Earheart drink – a combination of Ron Zacapa 23, Vulson White Rhino Rye Spirit, green apple shrub and vanilla syrup.
Daniel Dove, Diageo Reserve World Class brand ambassador, said: “The standard has been higher than ever and we can’t wait to see our finalists compete for a place in the global final, taking place in South Africa this September.”
