Gather the blenders

Whisky experts from across the globe heading to Edinburgh event

WHISKY blenders from around the world will gather at The Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh next month for the annual Evening with the Blenders event.

Now in its fourth year, the event brings together blenders from countries around the globe, including the USA and Japan, who will host tastings and give guests the opportunity to discuss different whiskies.

The event is to be held in The Scotch Whisky Experience’s recently-refurbished Castlehill Room with canapes provided by the venue’s Amber restaurant.

Taking place on April 29, this year’s Evening with the Blenders will coincide with the International Spirits Challenge competition, which will see 400 whiskies from around the world tested by a judging panel of whisky experts.

Susan Morrison, director and general manager of The Scotch Whisky Experience, said she was “privileged” to host the blenders event.

“Blending whisky is an intriguing art and this event gives people the rare opportunity to quiz blenders from around the world, as well as giving the blenders the chance to unwind with the people who actually drink their creations,” said Morrison.

Tickets for the Evening with the Blenders event are available for purchase through The Scotch Whisky Experience.

The event comes after the Scotch Whisky Experience revealed visitor numbers for 2014 had increased for the seventh consecutive year.

The Royal Mile attraction is said to have welcomed 308,000 visitors last year, an increase of 2.5% on 2013. The venue’s bar and restaurant also reported a 26% uplift in sales.
