EDINBURGH operators could get the chance to extend trading hours in outdoor areas during this year’s Festivalfollowing the success of a trial on George Street.
A report published by Edinburgh council has suggested extending the trial, which enabled premises on George Street to use outdoor tables and chairs until midnight instead of 10pm, to other areas of the city.
Councillor Lesley Hinds said the trial had created a “cafe culture”, improving the atmosphere for customers.
The council is consulting on the extension.
