HEINEKEN and Carlsberg have become the first major brewers to announce wholesale price rises.
Heineken’s increases include an additional £5.05 to an 11g keg of Foster’s and £4.58 to a keg of Strongbow.
The price rises will take effect from February 2.
However, the company’s Star Pubs & Bars division is increasing the discount it gives to lessees on Heineken products by 4%.
Carlsberg increased prices across its own portfolio, which includes Carlsberg, Tetley’s and Staropramen, by between 2.9% and 3.6% from January 5.
Meanwhile Matthew Clark, the free-trade distributor of Molson Coors products in Scotland, has said that it is “still looking” at the price of the brewer’s portfolio and will likely announce any changes in March.
Pricing announcements from other brewers, including Tennent Caledonian and AB InBev, are expected in the coming weeks.
