WKD campaign touts the sprout


RTD brand offers on-trade support for the festive period

THE Brussels sprout takes centre stage in a new Christmas campaign for WKD.
The firm behind the brand will be offering sprout-shaped festive head gear to consumers through a scratchcard promotion with every WKD purchase.
The scratchcards are said to give consumers a 50:50 chance of winning a ‘WKD Sprout Hat’.
SHS Drinks will also be providing licensees with a range of Christmas-themed recipes for cocktail sharing pitchers.
The firm has created four festive cocktails, including WKD Sprout of Order, containing WKD Green, raspberry liqueur, lemonade and ice, and WKD Sledgend, a mix of WKD Iron Brew, spiced rum, lemonade and ice.
To support the campaign, SHS Drinks will be distributing festive point of sale materials, including promotional posters, hanging mobiles, table-talkers and menus.
Debs Carter, marketing director at SHS drinks, said that with the sprout hats and seasonal cocktail suggestions “WKD is set to bring some extra-festive fun to on-trade outlets”.
“Christmas provides a great opportunity for pubs and bars to enjoy increased demand and with our rate-of-sale-driving hat promotion and our sharing cocktails, we’re putting in place fun support which will seriously benefit both WKD consumers and WKD stockists,” said Carter.
The WKD sprout hat is the latest in a line of Christmas headgear promotions from the brand.
Previous WKD festive hats have included the ‘Christ-moose’ and ‘turkey head’.
SHS Drinks boosted WKD’s television presence this year, signing a three-series tie-up between the brand and ITV2’s The Only Way is Essex; the brand also sponsors ITV2 comedy Plebs.
