TWO Edinburgh bartenders are in the running for a top cocktail award in the Maker’s Mark’s Bartender Trove competition.

Martin Scott, of Twenty Princes Street, created the Café Racer based on a 1930s cocktail shaker. It combines Maker’s Mark with Café XO Patron, espresso and agave syrup; it’s finished with a spray of rubber essence and cigar paper smoke and served in a rubber cup.
Meanwhile, Tim Pryde (pictured) from the Voodoo Rooms based his entry on a shisaa, an ornate Japanese drinking vessel.
The Okinawa Julep combines Maker’s Mark, nigori sake, green tea syrup and mint leaves. These are mixed together with crushed ice and served in the shisaa cup.
The final will be held in London later this summer, with the victor winning a trip to Kentucky.
