A NEW pub company has secured a considerable presence in Scotland through the acquisition of 131 tenanted and leased pubs in the space of a month.
Hawthorn Leisure now has a total of 363 pubs throughout the UK, after two separate deals.
The first saw it acquire 275 leased and tenanted pubs from Greene King. The deal, for £75.6m, took place in early May.
Then, later in the month, Hawthorn took on an additional 88 sites from the now defunct R&L Properties estate for an undisclosed sum, bringing its total Scottish estate to 131 sites.
The business is fronted by former Enterprise Inns managing director Gerry Carroll, and backed by Avenue Capital Group and May Capital LLP.
