• Scottish workshops covered the World Cup and Commonwealth Games.

PUNCH Taverns’ Scottish lessees have been preparing for the World Cup and Commonwealth Games through a series of ‘sports workshops’.

The sessions, which are said to have been attended by lessees from over 700 pubs across the UK, cover topics including advertising, promotions, merchandising, drinks and food, responsible retailing and training to help operators make the most of the World Cup. Scottish workshops are said to have included an additional focus on the Commonwealth Games.
Daniel Armes, learning development manager at Punch Taverns, said the workshops form the first stage of a two-part strategy.
“The ‘best in sport’ workshops have been scheduled specifically in the lead up to the World Cup to share best practice amongst other partners and generate ideas so our pubs can get ahead and compete with other pubs,” he said.
“The workshops are a precursor to the second phase where our partners will execute the ideas they have learnt.”
