BRAZILIAN cachaca brand Ypióca is set to land in the Scottish on-trade.
Parent firm Diageo has signed a new agrement with Marblehead to distribute two variants of the brand – Ypióca Prata Empalhada and Ypióca Ouro Empalhada – in the UK and Ireland.
Cachaca is a distilled spirit made from sugar cane and is the key ingredient in the Caiprinha cocktail.
Daan de Kroon, Diageo’s global export director for Ypióca, said the brand’s heritage coupled with a “growing interest” in Brazil provides a “fantastic springboard as we launch Ypióca into these [UK and Ireland] markets”.
