BT takes Champions League

BT Sport has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to live Champions League and Europa League football in a £900 million deal.

The broadcaster, which launched its sports channels this summer after winning the rights to 38 live Premier League games, 30 live SPL fixtures and ten Rangers games, will show all 350 matches from both tournaments. The rights run for three seasons from 2015/2016 and cost BT £299m a season.
BT chief executive Gavin Patterson said the matches will be “accessible and affordable”. “Both tournaments are world class and firm favourites with many,” he said.
