DRINKS giant Diageo has unveiled a range of Johnnie Walker-based cocktails to celebrate the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.
Created by Diageo’s World Class Bartender of the Year, David Rios, the drinks are said to have been inspired by the ways in which whisky is consumed around the world.
The ‘1921’ cocktail is so-called after the first ever transatlantic golf competition which took place at Gleneagles in that year and is said to have laid the foundations for the Ryder Cup.
Peter Lederer, director of Diageo in Scotland and chair of Gleneagles, said: “Diageo is very proud indeed to own the Gleneagles Hotel and Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky and we are delighted to be able to celebrate both of these Scottish icons being at the heart of the 2014 Ryder Cup.”
