BREWER and pub group Marston’s is set to continue its expansion into Scotland with a new outlet in a housing and retail development in West Lothian.
The firm, which opened its first Scottish pub in Dunbar in April of this year and has since added outlets in Dalkeith and at Braehead shopping centre, said the proposed new outlet will form part of the Southdale regeneration project, which will comprise up to 2000 houses.
Adrian Blackburn, acquisitions manager for Marston’s, described the new site as an “exciting and welcome potential acquisition for the company”.
“Should we be successful in gaining the necessary planning and licensing consents, we would be looking to create around 40 full and part-time permanent jobs at the Southdale site in Armadale with an opening to the public for 2015,” he said.
Marston’s operates more than 2000 pubs in the UK including three in Scotland: The Pine Marten in Dunbar, The Old Colliery in Dalkeith and the Steam Wheeler near Braehead shopping centre.
