Hotel in former home of whisky distiller up for sale
A NINETEENTH century mansion house hotel originally owned by a whisky distiller has come onto the books of property agent Bruce & Co.
Overlooking Campbeltown Loch, Craigard House Hotel has 14 letting bedrooms comprising seven family rooms, five double rooms, a single room and one four poster suite.

The property was built in 1882 in the Italianate style as the home of local whisky distiller William McKersie. It later became a maternity home before being converted into a hotel by the current owners, who have operated the business since 1996.
Facilities include a lounge bar and a 34-cover restaurant, which features traditional style decor and offers views of the loch; the restaurant’s capacity can be extended into the bar area via folding double doors, with further seating available on the outdoor patio.
Safa Sultan, of selling agent Bruce & Co which is marketing the property with a price tag of £799,950, said the hotel benefits from the large number of visitors to Campbeltown, which hosts the annual Mull Of Kintyre Music Festival. “The sale of Craigard House Hotel offers a rare opportunity to purchase one of the finest properties in Campbeltown; a beautifully presented Argyll hotel which trades throughout the year from a good mix of accommodation, food and wet sales,” said Sultan.

“Internally, the hotel has been recently refurbished to a very high standard and is now offered in true walk in condition.”
