A LICENSED Aberdeenshire fish and chip shop and restaurant has won an award for the best fish and chips in Britain.

Hornblowers in Gourdon was named Best Fish and Chip Shop in the annual Great Grub Awards, run by supermarket group Morrisons’ magazine.
Husband and wife team Alex and Ruth Grahame, who have owned and operated Hornblowers since April 2011, said winning the award was a ”complete surprise”.
“We’re absolutely delighted to win,” said Alex.
“We offer a unique experience to diners who get to enjoy their fish and chips while overlooking a working harbour.”
Ruth said Hornblowers has a “great local team and fantastic local suppliers”.
“Knowing that so many of our customers put us forward for this award is fantastic and we can’t thank them enough,” she said.
