Revamp of Kinross hotels gets green light

Rooms and bistro to be refurbished after operator secures funding package

Two hotels on the Kinross Estate are to benefit from a refurbishment after their operator secured a £1.2 million funding package.

The bedrooms in the Green Hotel Golf and Leisure Resort and the Windlestrae Hotel are set to be revamped as part of the project. The kitchen at the Boathouse Bistro on Loch Leven – one of five restaurants on the Kinross Estate – will also be extended and refurbished using the funds, which were arranged through Santander Corporate & Commercial.
Steve Ireland, who manages the hotels and estate on behalf of the Montgomery family which has owned the estate since 1777, said the refurbishment will help the business grow.
“The resort is in a truly beautiful part of Scotland and we want the interior of our hotels to match the beauty and idyll of the surroundings,” he said.
“Additionally this is a fantastic opportunity to grow our bistro. Located on Loch Leven, the restaurant has been growing in popularity over the past year, and increasing the kitchen facilities will enable us to offer even more visitors the opportunity to take advantage of this great location.
“It’s been great working with the team at Santander, who have really taken the time to understand our business and ambitions.”
Kirsty Johnston, relationship director at Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support Steve and his team on this new project.
“I look forward to developing our relationship further going forward.”
