SCOTCH whisky firm Burn Stewart Distillers has been bought by Africa’s Distell Group for £160 million.
East Kilbride-based Burn Stewart was sold by CL World Brands and Trinidad and Tobago-based Angostura. The deal comes six years after Burn Stewart and Distell formed an equal partner venture to co-own and market the Bunnahabhain, Black Bottle and Scottish Leader whiskies in sub-Saharan Africa.
