NEW training for door stewards was brought in earlier this month.
Since February 4, door supervisors renewing their SIA licences now have to undergo additional training and earn the Level 2 Award for Up-skilling Door Supervisors qualification in order to secure their licence. The training covers physical intervention skills as well as first aid, awareness of terrorist threats and considerations in dealing with young people.
Tony Holyland, competency manager at the SIA, said the extra training reflects the changing role of the door supervisor.
