Belhaven Brewery gets the Royal seal

HRH The Princess Royal opens the brewhouse as George Howell looks on.

HRH The Princess Royal was in Dunbar last week to perform the official opening duties on the new brew house at Belhaven Brewery.

The visit put the royal seal on the recent £1 million investment made by Greene King in raising the capacity and enhancing the efficiency of the East Lothian site, where brewing has taken place since 1719.
Her Royal Highness toured the new facilities with brewery director George Howell, and spoke to staff she previously met on her first visit to the brewery in 1988, including brewhouse operator John Smith, who has worked for Belhaven for 34 years.
SLTN editor Scott Wright was also among the guests.
“It was a true honour to welcome the Princess Royal to our brewery and give her a guided tour of our new facilities,” Howell said.
