PERTHSHIRE-based bottled water firm Highland Spring is on track to bottle and sell a record 400 million litres this year.

The milestone was unveiled as the group posted a 15% increase in turnover to £79.8m for its financial year to December 31, 2011.
While it said underlying profits were “flat”, the release of a prior year’s VAT provision enabled the firm to post an increase of £900,000 in 2011. Operating profit rose by just under £1m to £5.6m in the year.
Highland Spring chief executive Les Montgomery said the growth enabled the firm to absorb some “significant” raw material price increases in 2011.
“This performance consolidates Highland Spring’s position as leading supplier of bottled water in the UK, with one in every five litres of bottled water consumed being delivered by the Highland Spring Group,” he said.
