AN American entrepreneur has become the first person to buy a complete set of Dalmore’s Constellation Collection whiskies.

Mahesh Patel bought the 21 bottles of single malt for £158,000. The set, one of only nine full sets to be released by the distillery, includes a range of different vintages, the youngest having entered the cask in 1992 and the oldest in 1964.
Patel bought his set from specialist Edinburgh retailer The Whisky Shop, which became the first high street retailer in the world to stock the collection, though sets will also be showcased in London, Paris, Moscow, Miami, New York, Berlin and Hong Kong.
“The creation and sale of this prestigious collection shows that whisky goes from strength to strength,” said Andrew Torrance, managing director of The Whisky Shop. “We have seen sales increase in the last year, and in a really tough economic climate. And premium bottlings like this have grown in our stores.”
